COVID-19 News – Australia – Government’s Proposed Vaccination Passport Scheme

In Australia, the “Business Insider-Australia” reports the government will pursue its plan to launch the LNP’s international COVID-19 vaccination passport scheme as soon as October, after nearly 18 months of closed borders.

Interesting that in England, Sajid Javid (UK‘s Secretary of Health), said that they are scrapping their Vaccine Passport Plan, after having a proper look at it.  Under the plan, people would have used their passports to prove their vaccination status to enter some crowded venues, including night clubs.
Mr. Javid said that while there are other measures to defeat the virus like vaccine uptake, testing, surveillance, and new treatments, they are keeping the vaccine passport plan in “reserve” as a potential option. (BBC News)

I think we can all agree that lockdowns in Australia are not good for business, employment, education, and the mental health of our people. It will be interesting to see if the passport scheme goes ahead, in view of the UK’s decision not to go ahead with a similar scheme at this time.
