We know that completing a 13 week motor vehicle logbook can be a pain. And it’s time consuming at the end of the period to work out your business/investment v private km. Some people prefer filling in a logbook from those little MV books you can get in a newsagent or stationer for about $5 to $7.
However, if you’re looking for something which records your trips automatically, one of our clients has mentioned that he finds the DriversNote phone app useful, and very easy to use. It’s available for both iphone and android. DriversNote automatically measures your km, and you just have to put in notes about where you were going and why. You can download reports for your tax records, save it into your electronic files and send it to us at tax time. And it gives other information, too, for example if you use 2 cars for your work, not just one; you can produce a logbook / record of km for each vehicle, very easily. Also, if you keep forgetting to log your claims for your mileage you can put it on auto-record for the 13 weeks and it will log every car trip for a truly accurate and ATO approved record of your mv travel. Happy travelling!
