The deadline for the installation of smoke alarms in your investment property is on 31 December 2021 – has your real estate agent organised this for you yet?
In Qld, from 2017, dwellings were required to be installed with interconnected smoke alarms. By 1 Jan 2022, properties must meet the requirements of Smoke Alarm Compliance 2022.
Note that if you do not comply, there is a possibility that you cannot lease out, renew your lease or sell your property in the future. By being compliant, it will not only prevent you from paying penalties costing around $500, but it will also help protect you as a landlord, your tenants, your real estate agent, and your property.
